Crazy, Stupid, Love.  Find on IMDb

This is a nice and funny drama but some people tried to put its appraised value too high. In the end this is not going to be a classic. The chaotic scene in which everybody came together was exaggerated. Also from the beginning of the movie until that scene the writers wanted to hide the newly revealed family relation but that strained credibility of the story. I find this kind of unconvincing surprises generally annoying. Loser roles fit Carell well. The casting is good. The original score reminded me Little Miss Sunshine.

Mr. Popper's Penguins  Find on IMDb

This adaptation of the old children book made good money at the box office. Some moviegoers criticized it for being full of clichés but I think it was fun to watch. Yes, what we have here is a very formulaic Hollywood family movie. Still it makes you laugh and warms your heart. Jim Carrey is not overacting, the family is likeable and the penguins are cute. My respects to Angela Lansbury. If you don't like the trailer, don't watch the complete movie.

Horrible Bosses  Find on IMDb

This film couldn't decide whether it is going to be a black comedy or an absurd comedy. It has a rich cast. The main fellows behave like Seinfeld characters. Jamie Foxx is surprisingly funny. Kevin Spacey was a perfect choice for the role. Colin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston have caricature characters. I also liked the cinematography. The movie has a professional look. It is not an important comedy, but you can watch this with your friends to have some fun.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes  Find on IMDb

I am a huge fan of the original series. Also I have always believed that the last two sequels could be much better. I take Tim Burton's version as a joke. This fresh beginning has some really good references to the original movie. The CGI Apes are successful and Caesar is a convincing movie character. It's a pleasure to watch John Lithgow. But what this series need is the spirit and style of a B movie. It should look different than a formulaic summer movie. Fincher or Aronofsky would be good choices to direct a PotA movie.

Super 8  Find on IMDb

I went to see this  with great expectations and left the cinema with disappointment. Spielberg directed or produced great films like E.T. or The Goonies with children. But this one is nothing close to them. It is a good idea that the children are directing their own movie. But the rest is weak. The train accident is one of the most illogical scenes of movie history. E.T. was saying "Love aliens because they might be friendly" and Super 8 says "Love aliens even if they eat you"!!!

Thor  Find on IMDb

A respectful director, a great cast and a big budget was unfortunately not enough to make this movie better than an enjoyable but mediocre comic book adaptation. Cliché storytelling. Loki's decisions were illogical. The fight scenes in the small town reminded Superman II somehow. Hopkins is the Odin of acting. Russo is figurant this time. At least children learn some Norse mythology.

Source Code  Find on IMDb

This movie has the logic of a computer game in adventure genre. You repeat to play a part until you finished it successfully. A risky choice for a film. It could be very boring but it is not. Directed and acted well. On the other hand the end is not convincing. They wanted to have a happy end and that ruined the movie. Probably they are after a sequel. Jake Gyllenhaal is on a good way as an actor.

Just Go with It  Find on IMDb

I think we all know what to expect from an Adam Sandler comedy. They are more or less the same: Rude, dirty, empty and funny. This time Happy Gilmore destroys classic comedy! This is a low quality remake of Cactus Flower (1969). If you like good romantic comedies than watch the original. If you like Sandler, Aniston and big boobs than watch this version. Also Nicole Kidman brought a lot of fun to the film.

The Adjustment Bureau  Find on IMDb

This movie could be much better with a more experienced or more talented director. It is adapted from a short story of Philip K. Dick. Good cast. The leading characters are easy to like. There is chemistry between Damon and Blunt. The story has things to tell about politics, love and fate. But you don't feel completely satisfied with the whole movie and Philip is not responsible of that! It is worth watching.

Battle: Los Angeles  Find on IMDb

This is one of the movies which tries to look more expensive than it actually is. Trailer was very good. Posters were promising. Normally you expect a big story after this kind of advertising. But the film's scenario is like one episode of a TV series. This kind of movies are cheating the public like a shameless politician. My advise to producers: Don't create great expectations because you will lose in the end!

Black Swan  Find on IMDb

Since Fight Club we have watched a lot of movies about multiple personality disorder or schizophrenia. This is one of the good ones. It doesn't try to fool you and it is well directed. Editing and cinematography are fine. In the hands of professionals talented Natalie Portman showed a good performance and got an Oscar! All the supporting roles were also very successful. You watch it curiously until the end. But the end is a little weak.

The King's Speech  Find on IMDb

British or Australian movies with Geoffrey Rush have always a good change to get some Oscars: Shine, Elizabeth, Shakespeare in Love, Quills and now this one! The movie tries to show that the victory against Nazi Germany in WWII had began with the victory of the king against himself. Excellent Colin Firth deserved his Oscar. Rush is amazing. Impressively directed. Which member of the British Royal Family is going to be adapted for the big screen next?
